On the Road Again

Are you ready to hit the road again?  Next Monday (the Lord willing) , February 5, we will begin our second season of The Road to Somewhere.  We will be exploring Route 66 through the state of Missouri and working our way through the historical books of the Old Testament, beginning with Joshua.  There are twelve stops in Missouri, beginning with St. Louis, and twelve historical books that take us from roughly 1,500 BC to 1,000 BC. of Israel’s history.  We will split the journey into two parts with the first ending right before Palm Sunday.  I was thinking about how our timing parallels Lent.  Lent was created by the early church as a way to prepare for the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus.  It lasts 40 days, and in the early church, many used this as a time of fasting and prayer to get their hearts in the right place for Easter.  Think about using our time during the first half of this new season as a Lentin journey through Israel’s history.  I think you will find it to be a spiritually profitable experience.  I look forward to leading you down the road and through the Book during this time.  I’d love to hear from you if you plan on joining us on the journey.
