Leaving Funks Grove and heading to Springfield, John and Joy put the top up on the Vette and head for the land of Lincoln. Episode Four takes them to their first night’s stop. With separate rooms, the two stay at the President Lincoln Hotel. After checking in, they head to the Lincoln memorial where Abraham Lincoln and many of his family are buried. Along with Lincoln’s tomb, the memorial boasts a replica in bronze of Gutzon Borglum’s bust of Lincoln. (Borglum is best known as the architect of Mt. Rushmore!) Joy suggests they shoot their video next to Abe. Along with some Lincoln/Springfield biography, John gives a little teaser about the next book of the Bible: Leviticus. You will learn some fascinating history, not only of Leviticus, but also of St. Catherine’s monastery that sits at the foot of the traditional (and recently questioned) site of Mt. Sinai. You’ll learn about the invention of the corn dog! The links to both today’s episode, and the lecture I gave on Leviticus are below. Once again, I hope you watch both.
