What do you get when you add wings, an engine, and a propeller to a manure wagon? Obviously…the Crapduster. If you want to see one, you have to travel to Carthage, Missouri, on Alternate Route 66. While you are there you might want to take in a movie at one of the oldest functioning drive-ins in America. Episode 9, of Season Two, of The Road to Somewhere, takes us to Carthage, Missouri and one of the major turning point in the history of Israel. After seventy years in captivity, and with Jerusalem completely destroyed, the King of Persia allows the first wave of exiles to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple. This story is found in the first nine chapters of the book of Ezra. It is the beginning of both the return and the rebuilding of the nation. We are five hundred years before the birth of Jesus, but what happens in this episode will eventually play a critical role in his life and ministry.
