In this session, we begin a study of this fascinating book. My approach will be a little different than it was on The Road to Somewhere. Every session, I will give a brief introduction to what the teaching will be about. That introduction will be edited into the actual teaching video. A number of years ago I taught through Acts as part of a larger series on the story of the entire Bible. I approached it a bit uniquely, asking the congregation to imagine the Bible was a three act screenplay. The first act was “The Story of the Jews” and covered the narrative of the Old Testament. That led to Act Two which I called “The Story of Jesus”. I combined the four gospels into one narrative and took people through Jesus’ entire life. That led to Act Three which I called “The Story of the Church”. I took twenty weeks to go through the book of Acts as if it were a part of the larger screenplay. In the next twenty sessions, you will get a chance to study the book in a fun and unique way. Acts is a story. It is the last actual story in the New Testament till you get to Revelation. The story begins forty days after Jesus rose from the dead. In the first chapter of the book, as the disciples gaze dumbfounded, Jesus physically ascends from the Mount of Olives to the heavenly realm.
