The Prodigal Son

A wealthy father has two sons.  One is an ideal young man.  The other is a handful.  Neither know their father very well.  The brothers don’t particularly like each other.  The older brother thinks the younger is a worthless bum.  The younger thinks the older is an anal retentive jerk.  The father loves both.  This is the setting for the story Jesus tells in Luke 15 and which we will explore together Sunday.  It is called “The Parable of the Prodigal Son”. I think that is a bad title.  I’ll tell you Sunday what it should be called. The story is  much more about the father than either son.  And ultimately it is about you and me and what God is like.  It is powerful and vitally important to our understanding of God and ourselves.

Sunday morning we “spring ahead”.  We lose an hour of sleep and throw our Cycadian rhythms into a state of confusion.  Let’s do it together!   I miss you and hope you will come join me in coffee, worship, teaching, and great fellowship.   The weather looks good and we really need each other.  I need you!

Love to all,
Bob
