Paul’s Farewell Letter

Moving on down The Road to Somewhere,  our stop this week is Oatman, AZ.  Once a mining town of 10,000, Oatman has become an old west themed tourist stop.  It is famous for a law that was passed years ago that allows donkeys to freely roam the town.  To access the town you need to take an older alignment of Route 66 that includes an eight mile segment of highway named the “Arizona Sidewinder”, containing 191 hair pin turns.  Trucks over forty feet in length are not allowed on the road.  The letter of Paul attached to this stop is 2 Timothy.  Scholars believe this was the last letter Paul wrote before being beheaded by orders from the Roman emperor Nero.  It is both a sad letter, expressing Paul’s belief to Timothy that his end is near, and yet a victorious letter as Paul writes that he has “fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.” Be sure to watch both the video of today’s episode and the teaching video on 2 Timothy.
