Don’t Be A Cretan

Today’s episode of  The Road to Somewhere brings us to the end of our Arizona leg of Route 66.  John and Joy will cross the Colorado River in our next episode and spend the rest of their journey in California, heading to the end of Route 66.  In this final Arizona episode, they come to the town of Topock, AZ.  They shoot their video with the Old Trails Bridge in the background.  The bridge appeared in two movies with two different actors from the same family.  You have to watch the video to find out who.  The two biblical books that are connected to this stop are Titus and Philemon.  One is pastoral and one is very personal.  Titus is working on Crete to deal with some problems in the church and appoint some elders.  It must be a tough place because Paul quotes one of their own prophets, pointing out that “All Cretans are liars, lazy, and gluttons.”  We get our slang term “Cretan” from this passage.   So, don’t be a Cretan.  Watch the episode video and the teaching video!  The links to both are below.
