I was speaking to a men’s group this week on the book of Lamentations. I felt a little bad since there was a celebratory mood in the room related to the events of the last few days and I didn’t want to depress them since Lamentations has been called “the saddest book in the Bible” I jokingly said that if I offended anyone I had already been given a preemptive pardon by Jesus. Then it hit me: I really have been given a preemptive pardon by Jesus. When I received the gift of his forgiveness and accepted all he had done on my behalf on the Cross, he not only pardoned me for my past failures, he forgave me for my present and future failures. Can you imagine anyone receiving one of Joe Biden’s pardons turning it down? Yet millions of people around the world have not said “yes” to Jesus’s preemptive pardon. How about you? Just tell him “Yes! I’ll take it.” It’s simple. This has nothing to do with this week’s videos, which are on the Minor Prophet Joel.
