Paul vs. Peter

The section of text we will be working through in Session #3 of our study In Galatians involves a confrontation Paul has with Peter when Peter comes to Antioch in Syria.  Antioch becomes the epicenter of the mission to take the good news of Jesus to the Gentile world in the same way that Jerusalem plays that role in the mission to the Jews.   In the midst of dealing with the issues we explored in Session #2, Peter’s visit leads to a confrontation about his behavior that Paul calls “hypocrisy.”  In Paul’s rebuke, he sets forth for the first time in writing the theology of justification that becomes the foundation for the faith of the apostolic church.  It is all about getting into the right relationship with God and what is required for that to happen.  This is one of the most important passages in the New Testament and just as important today as it was in first century Antioch.  Here is the link to Session #3:
