Welcome back to The Story of Jesus. We are at the point in Jesus’s ministry where he heads back to Capernaum after teaching The Sermon on the Mount. Upon approaching the outskirts of the town he is approached by a group of elders from Capernaum who ask Jesus to heal the servant of a Roman Centurion. I will use this event to look at the healing ministry of Jesus. This will be the beginning of the third major division of Jesus’s life and ministry. After studying the early events in Jesus’s life, and John’s description of his early Judean ministry, we have spent the last sessions of our study hitting some of the highlights of his ministry in Galilee. Although there will still be times when Jesus is in Galilee or Jerusalem, he will now move across the Jordan and eventually into the region of Perea as he begins heading toward Jerusalem and the final events of his Passion.
