The Sermon on the Mount, pt. 2
First, let me say Jesus is going to take a vacation. Actually, I am going to take a break after this week in our study till the Fall. So many of you are traveling and engaged in other summer activities that the number of those watching the videos has dropped about 75% since Memorial Day. I was hoping to finish another 10 sessions before taking a summer break, but Covid threw that plan off. This week’s study is Session #15 (which does not count the two weeks I sent you to Route 66). That puts us at the half-way mark of our study. I am moving over to Matthew chapter 6 in The Sermon on the Mount and taking you through the seven phrases that make up The Lord’s Prayer. Luke writes that this instruction came as a request from the disciples to teach them to pray. Matthew includes it in The Sermon on the Mount. Is this a prayer to be repeated by rote in public worship, or was Jesus giving the disciples a tool to help them remember the various elements that should be included in our prayer lives? I’ll attempt to answer that question in our study. The link below is live now and can be accessed at any time. I’ll be working on a book project over the summer and trying to get away with Joy for a few small trips. Have a great summer and we will begin Part Three of The Story of Jesusin September.
