Wednesday night we will still be digging into Revelation, Chapter 2. This week we will explore the letter Jesus dictates to a church in the city of Pergamum. Jesus refers to the city as the place “where Satan has his throne.” Can you imagine driving into town and being greeted with a large billboard announcing that! Pergamum was a strategic city in the ancient world. During the Greek and Roman periods, most of this area of modern Turkey was part of the Pergamum Empire. The culture of the city was influencing the church, leading to a degree of compromise. I’ll explain all this on Wednesday.
