Need a shepherd?

The LORD is my shepherd… (Psalm 23:1).

It is the 23rd of July (in case you didn’t know). I have started a new cycle of reading the Psalms which means today I read the classic 23rd Psalm. As I read, I began to personalize the psalm and respond to God using it. I acknowledged that, “You are my shepherd.” “You have provided everything I need.” “You restore my soul.” “You lead me in paths of righteousness.” “You anoint my head with oil.” “My cup overflows.”

I felt impress to write and encourage you that the LORD is your shepherd. He cares about you and for you. He will restore you soul if you are feeling drained. He will meet your needs as you live in fellowship with him. He will lead you. Nothing that happens in your life today will be by chance. I’d like to encourage you to read the psalm. And after you do, put an “S” on your had to remind you that he is your shepherd!

The Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside still waters, he restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me.

Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint me head with oil. My cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
